What are the financial requirements to open a franchise?

Hungry Howie’s Pizza net worth and capital requirements for a new franchise are:

  • $220,000 in liquid assets
  • $650,000 in net worth
  • Credit score above 680
  • Ability to obtain financing for up to $500,000

These are minimum requirements and do not represent the total potential costs to open and operate one or more franchise locations.

What is the franchise fee?

The franchise fee is $25,000. 

We do discount the franchise fee by 50% for qualifying owner/operator veterans to thank them for their service.

What is the royalty fee?

The ongoing royalty fee is 5.5% of gross sales.

What are the marketing and advertising fees?

You will contribute 7% of your gross sales for marketing and advertising fees for your pizza franchise(s). Currently, this is divided so that 1% of your gross sales is allocated for national marketing and 6% for local marketing.

What marketing support do franchisees receive?

We offer comprehensive marketing and branding strategies to educate consumers and drive sales. Grand opening and ongoing support for franchisees includes print, digital, broadcast, social media and in-store materials.

How much does it cost to build a Hungry Howie Franchise?

Actual costs may vary, but it typically is between $292,129 and $567,248 to build and open a franchise location.

Does Hungry Howie’s offer financing for franchise opportunities?

We do not offer financing, however, we can direct you to sources that have provided financing to other franchisees. Additionally, we are on the SBA's Franchise Registry list, which means a a streamlined review process when you apply for an SBA loan.

Will you help me find a site for my store?

Our development team will work with you to locate the best possible site that’s available within your market.

Am I required to reside in or near the area I'm interested in developing?

Franchise owner operators usually reside within a 30-mile radius of their location. 

Who would I speak to about submitting a potential real estate site?

  • 1400 – 1600 square feet
  • High visibility
  • Strong ingress/egress
  • End cap preferred
  • Minimum 5,000 households in a 1-mile radius around site
  • Grocery or QSR anchor 

Getting Started 

How long does it take to open a franchise?

Typically, it takes between 9 and 12 months from the time you sign a franchise agreement to your opening. Each market and store is different, though, and the time it takes to open a unit depends on many factors, including franchise site selection, lease negotiation, build-out time and requirements, permitting, and training.

Is training provided?

Hungry Howie’s has an initial training program and also offers ongoing training to franchisees. 

  • You or your designated operator will visit our Michigan headquarters and nearby training store.
  • Designated Franchisee Training consists of one week of in-store training and one week of online training. 
  • Operator Training consists of three weeks of in-store training and one week of online training.
  • During your first store opening, your assigned Franchise Business Consultant may, at our discretion, provide you with up to two weeks of additional assistance.

What support do franchisees receive for grand opening?

Franchisees receive on-site assistance for up to two weeks during the grand opening period. The marketing support staff is also available to assist with grand opening advertising campaigns. In addition, the operations team conducts follow-up visits one month after opening.

Does Hungry Howies' provide all food and products to its franchisees?

Hungry Howie’s Distribution and Performance Food Group (PFG) are the vendors that provide all food and products to our franchisees.  They provide quantity discounts to improve the franchisees bottom line.
