Each year, Entrepreneur releases a list of the top 500 franchises in the world. Hungry Howie’s is proud to have been featured on the Entrepreneur Franchise 500® list for five years running.
The most recent listing for 2015 encompassed more than 450,000 individual businesses across 17 different categories. After the first cut, only 951 companies remained, from which the Franchise 500® are selected.
In order to be considered for the Franchise 500®, a franchisor must provide a full Franchise Disclosure Document or “FDD” along with other information required by Entrepreneur. Additionally, a franchisor must have more than 10 units with at least one located in the U.S.
Franchises are judged on objective, quantifiable measures of operation. Factors such as financial strength, business stability, growth rate, and size of the system are taken into consideration. Entrepreneur also considers the number of years a company has been in business, how long franchising has been available, startup costs, litigation, percentage of terminations, and whether the franchisor provides financing.
Taking these elements into account, Entrepreneur uses their exclusive Franchise 500® formula to provide companies with a cumulative score. The scores determine the rankings for the Top 500®.
