Hungry Howie’s was born in 1973 when Jim Hearn converted a 1,000 square foot hamburger shop in Taylor, Michigan into a successful carry out and delivery pizzeria. Around this same time, Hearn hired a delivery driver named Steve Jackson.
Over the years, their relationship evolved into a partnership. Jackson and Hearn decided to expand their operation and awarded the first Hungry Howie’s franchise pizza location in January 1983. Within the next 3 years, 65 more franchises emerged. Hearn decided to take the Hungry Howie’s Franchise to Florida and left Jackson in charge of Michigan.
Over the years, the popularity of Hungry Howie’s has spread throughout the country. Today Hungry Howie’s Pizza is steadily approaching 600 stores located in 20 states with new franchise opportunities available. After 40 years in the pizza industry, Hungry Howie’s has emerged as one of the top 10 pizza franchise operations in the nation.
